"Baltic Vein Clinic"

Diseases of the leg veins cause both medical and cosmetic issues. Their wide occurrence has contributed to the rapid development of phlebology (the field that studies and treats veins) all over the world – including Latvia.

Currently the most common vein disease – chronic venous insufficiency – affects both women and men. The Baltic Vein Clinic is a part of SIA Veselības centrs 4 group and has become the largest, most experienced medical facility in the Baltic countries, providing extensive vein diagnosis and treatment possibilities in one location.

About "Baltic Vein Clinic"

The clinic was opened in 1999 and rapidly gained recognition among Latvian and international patients and medical specialists: 2,500 vein surgeries and manipulations performed annually confirm the stable indicators of professional authority and patients’ trust. All modern vein treatment techniques and their combinations, and technologies are applied in the Baltic Vein Clinic. Specialists of the clinic assess each case of vein disease individually. The most suitable diagnosis and treatment plan is drawn up for a patient, taking into consideration not only the type of disease, but also the patient’s general health state, mobility, family history, lifestyle and specific work requirements, financial possibilities, and other aspects, which are important in choosing the most effective course of treatment.

The Baltic Vein Clinic at 115 Kr. Barona Street, 50 Skanstes Street and 410 Brīvības gatve 410 (in Riga) as a part of Veselības centrs 4 has obtained an international quality management system certificate in accordance with ISO 9001:2015. “Veselības centrs 4” (Health center 4) begins vein treatment. In the surgery department of “Veselības centrs 4” Dr. Elga Rēvalde and Dr. Sandra Prāve starts to use sclerotherapy in the treatment of veins. This year “Veselības centrs 4” specialists start using an ultrasonograph to detect vein pathologies. This method of diagnosing the state of veins is being used for the first time in Latvia. Before that veins were evaluated only visually.

“Veselības centrs 4” surgeons start performing surgery according to the Varady method (miniphlebectomy) with minimal skin incisions of 1-2 mm.

A Phlebology Center is established, in which Dr. Ivars Prudāns, Dr. Uldis Mauriņš and latter Dr. Ints Ūdris and Dr. Pēteris Gerke performs classic vein surgeries and miniphlebectomies.

The first vein laser surgery in Latvia is performed at “Baltic Vein Clinic”! In world practice endovenous laser surgery was introduced in 2001 starting a new era in vein treatment. Already in the summer of 2002, the first endovenous laser surgery (under ultrasonography control) in the Baltics was performed by vascular surgeon phlebologist Ints Ūdris, using the Dornier Medtech medilas D (980 nm) diode laser, under the guidance of German professor Thomas Proebstle.

endovenoza

“Veselības centrs 4” introduces phlebologist consultation with Duplex sonography of leg veins.

ultrosonografija

“Veselības centrs 4” is the first in the Baltics to start performing endovenous radiofrequency (RF) surgeries with a fundamentally new Closure Fast catheter. The operation of the RF VNUS generator is fully automated completely eliminating inaccuracies of the human factor in terms of energy dosing.

Clouser

“Veselības centrs 4” is the first in Latvia to introduce a surgery quality guarantee certificate.

A new type of laser wires are beginning to be used in vein laser surgical operations – new wires emit energy not forward but circularly. Thus the vein walls are closed more precisely and the postoperative period becomes easier for patients.

Operāciju kvalitātes sertifikāts

By significantly expanding the range of services and supplementing technical equipment with new, high-quality devices, including modernizing operating rooms, “Veselības centrs 4” Phlebology Center is transforming into Baltic Vein Clinic. The clinic starts its performance of a new quality opening its doors to visitors in spacious and well-appointed premises in Riga, Kr. Barona Street 115.

operacija

“Baltic Vein Clinic” begins to use the steam micropulse endovenous thermal occlusion system (SVS) with water steam pulses (CERMA GEN 10W), which won 1st place at the European Venous Forum in 2010, for vein surgery.

“Baltic Vein Clinic” is starting to use the latest generation of endovenous F CARE SYSTEMS RFA equipment for vein radiofrequency surgeries, which allows complex treatment of veins of various diameters and calibers.

Tvaika mikroimpuls

“Baltic Vein Clinic” is the first in Latvia to introduce the bio-glue method in the treatment of veins. From this moment Latvia along with Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Austria, becomes the fifth country in the world where endovenous surgeries started to be performed using bio-glue.

“Baltic Vein Clinic” introduces an intraextra treatment method using Eufoton LaseMar 800 (808 nm laser with a wide range of options) which unlike other lasers is used for the treatment of ulcers and tortuous veins.

Operacija ar limi

“Baltic Vein Clinic” receives the Latvian Medical Institutions Quality Award in the nomination "Department of Surgical Profile".

“Baltic Vein Clinic” is creating an Eastern European training center for bio-glue method in cooperation with SAPHEON - the organization that invented the technology. At the training center vascular surgeons, phlebologists and doctors of other specialties who administer vascular USG and who have appropriate qualifications in endovenous vein surgery are trained to work with the latest and most advanced vein treatment technology. The clinic obtains such rights based on its excellent reputation and the knowledge of its phlebologists.

Latvijas ārstniecības iestāžu kvalitātes balva

“Baltic Vein Clinic's” leading specialist, vascular surgeon, phlebologist Ints Ūdris puts into practice the particularly effective and gentle TOTAL EVLA laser surgery method developed by himself using the 3rd generation 1940 nm diode laser. TOTAL EVLA is the first method that allows the maximum gentle elimination of varicose side branches (and knots) without pulling them out. The absorption capacity of the 1940 nm laser in water is ten times greater so 30% less energy is sufficient to close a section of a vein - such a surgery is much gentler, there are no burns, skin pigmentation, large bruises, and there is no pain after the surgery. TOTAL EVLA method continues to gain international recognition from industry professionals and patients.

EVLT

Baltic Vein Clinic has become the leading vein treatment clinic in the Baltic States. The clinic also develops its technologies and methods for the prevention and treatment of other localized vein pathologies - in the treatment of hemorrhoids.  “Baltic Vein Clinic” offers all world-recognized modern treatment methods: rubber ring application, sclerotherapy, HET bipolar device, cyanoacrylate glue (bioglue), THD, HAL and RAR methods under endorectal doppler control, EVRF RAFAELO® technology, laser surgeries, Milligan-Morgan method, PPH (Longo type) surgery, LigaSure surgeries.

Baltijas Vēnu klīnika

“Baltic Vein Clinic” becomes the first and only one in the Baltics to introduce the revolutionary echotherapy method with the SONOVEIN® system for non-invasive treatment of veins with a surgical effect. Riga becomes the ninth city in the world where such procedures are performed. During the treatment a high-intensity ultrasound beam is focused through the skin to the vein. Under the influence of thermal energy the vein shrinks and is closed. The manipulation is completely non-invasive - there are no cuts, stitches, pain. With the help of echotherapy, it is also possible to treat very difficult-to-access veins, even in the case of an open ulcer.
